hello there..i am in the midst of designing a house. I am really inspired by the H&H Princess Margaret Showhome 2010. I am not sure that I want to use all siding for the exterior of the house. I am thinking about using a combination of brick, stone and siding. I am not sure how to do this. Are there any rules on colour and texture for exterior of homes? Would the Oakville Princess Margaret showhome lose it's charm if brick and stone were added to the exterior? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. This part of the project will take a good junk of the budget and i don't want to make a mistake!!
Eternally grateful,
Den

How exciting that you get to design a house! You can definitely mix stone and siding, especially if you stay within the same colour family. Actually, you'll appreciate this video about a previous Princess Margaret Showhouse which outlines how they chose the stone and paint: http://houseandhome.com/videos/design-decorating/video-how-choose-exteri...
Looking forward to hearing more details about the house!
