Pearl_girl......we share plants all the time......I even have passersby stopping to admire my gardens and asking about names of plants and I end up giving them the seeds of whatever they're admiring. I collect all seeds too but I find the lavatera has thousands of them and I am still pulling them out till now. They do make a nice show especially in late summer when everything is getting exhausted, they seem to stand up erectly showing off their flowers.

I also have a bluebell (morning glory) which is another overabundant seeder....maybe it's just me, it's getting harder to tend my rather extensive gardens.......

I have a tansy too and was given to me by my neighbour. It's starting to bloom right now I might have to move it next spring because it's very close to my white lilac .

DBD and any one who would like some seeds, you are welcome to seeds from any Malva-Lavatera I have. In the fall I collect mostly all of them. Just PM with your address.
luvtodecorate I do not find them a nuisance at all as I collect most of the seeds and if some sprout new plants that I do not want in that spot I transplant them or I give them away. The neighbours share plants all the time which is fun. I just was given a huge tansy (see photo) by a friend and have a perfect spot for it. I am waiting patiently for it to bloom.

Pearl_girl your garden is flourishing.....do you find the lavatera a nuisance though because of all the new plants sprouting everything the following spring? I find I'm spending too much time pulling new growth from all over my flower beds, so this year I'm leaving only one plant and see if I can control it. I too, have the deep purple as well as the pink one which doesn't seem to seed as much as the deep purple. I had a white one but for some reason it didn't come again this year. I love that one more than the others.

It's nice to have see different flowers going. I can live vicariously through yours until mine take off.

AS for HOme Depot, I learned something this weekend shopping for plants that I didn't know before about that store so I'll pass it along. When they are marking things down (vs the clearance type markers which are bright yellow) they change the price to an even dollar amount. So hanging baskets that were say $15.97 drop to $10.00 or perennials that were $3.97 drop to $1.00 but stay with the normal white price markers. I don't know what the logic is for doing some things clearance and some a price drop with normal signs but apparently if you are wondering if something has been reduced, look for the .00 on the price.

On the same thought, Costco clearance merchandise ends in .97 and has a * on the price card if the item is discontinued.

So pretty! I love the colours. Looks like I should be checking out HD for some plants too! (always room for at least one more! :) )

Great blooms-I didn't know lavatera came in that deep shade. Isn't it a welcome site to see the garden come to life again?

Your roses look so healthy-mine are a tragedy at the moment, as they are currently sharing a space with daisies that popped up around them last year. I should have moved those-it's a mess!
