fieldstone countertop

help..........I would like to create a countertop from small granite fieldstones but I am not sure how to secure them or what to use for a sealer that would not be toxic when used with food. I would very much appreciate any responces.

You would use a thin set mortar or an adhesive to adhere the stones similar to that used for tile. I would recommend the thin set mortar, due to the irregularity of field stones. As for a sealer...maybe an acrylic one. A silicone product similar to that used to seal grout could be used. I'm not sure which ones are food grade.
