Hi everyone,
as promised please find attached pics of my new condo. I picked out all of the paint colours, furniture and fabrics myself for the couch, etc. I think that I could use a hint of colour somewhere and something to put on the long wall underneath the three prints but I am not sure what. Does it look okay? Opinions are welcome and needed.
Thanks.
Nixx

you should be very proud of yourself...now for curtains....
try a nice broad horizontal stripe, that picks up on your colour palette. There are some gorgeous taffetas with textured stripes out there, which I think would look awesome in your room. You could either do a reverse pinch pleat (for a more formal drape) or have them grommetted.
Nixx, I did find the fabric company, it is Maxwell, but after looking at it again the colours are not quite how I remembered them:). Actually, after looking at your room again I don't know if having square shapes on the headboard and drapes would be too much. I'm out of my league here...I'll put a sock in it:D
Looks great! I can't belive you got it done already! WOW you have inspired me to go and buy paint and start painting!
Wow....leave the red wall and the botanicals look great there also. Gee you and jen work fast..........................................:)
I took the liberty to put both of these up to show just how dramatically paint can change a room....mood etc.
I think it is beautiful...I'm not sure you need the headboard..I would try without it, love the red and pictures...
THANKS!!! For all of the great suggestions and compliments everyone!!! Wow you guys made me feel better about my choice. I will get better blinds. The ones I have are very light and kinda cheap. I'll try something heavier.
I love the way it looks at night so I think everyone is right...I can probably achieve that warm look in the day with the right drapery.
Thanks again,
Nicole
Dont' change a thing; it;s stunning! The prints will look fabulous within the red.
The view just inside your doorway from the (kitchen?) is great. The color blocking gives the room just what it needed. The choice in linens is perfect, right down to those 2 pillow below the night stand.
Excellent job!
sweetie
Nixx22, that looks great! Talk about quick results! I thought we'd be waiting for a couple of days or weeks! I guess not everyone is a slow poke like me!:D
I think the red block looks really good. I'd leave it.
If you want to add more warmth then your idea about your window treatments would help for certain. You could create it by using drapery panels. Fake silk ones are very opulent but they need to be lined to give them weight. All you need is two side panels, and add to that sheer or semi-sheer romans to shroud the outdoor light a little bit. There is a pattern that comes to mind when looking at your room, I almost used it for my dr drapes and upholstery for seats but when I brought it home and put it next to my trim it didn't look right. It is a 1sq inch checker (made with faux silk) it has a couple of different shaded/toned neutral squares and one that is a softer version of your wall square. Ofcoarse, I don't remember what company makes it..duh! If I can find it online I'll show you what I mean.
About that space in your kitchen, if it messes with your Feng Shui then ignore my post!lol...I don't want to invite any bad karmic energy into your home!
No question about it, keep the red. And the pictures will look great within the red. Maybe you didn't sleep because of the light coming in your bedroom window. How about some heavy, light blocking, dark brown curtains the colour of your furntiure. Can you keep the sheers to draw across on sunny days? You'd hate to fade that beautiful room you've created.
Where did you get your bedding? Love it.
if i were you....lol...i would keep them in the red...they look like they were made for there....i'm really liking botanical pics lately too....as for the curtains....i'm not too good with fabric recommendations unless it's all about leather... :D ....but i'll try and put on my thinking cap....i'm guessing by the looks of it...you are pretty high up so privacy really isn't an issue...unless of course you spot condogirl across the way with binoculars...but hmmmm....i'm thinking
oh ya i wanted to add....finally someone like me who stays up all nite painting till it gets done...thank God i'm not alone out there...LOL
Hey JenJen-
Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear that you like it. I was thinking I could probably warm up the space by getting different curtains...I think these ones are too sheer....what do you think?
Those pics are resting for now cause I wasnt sure if I should put them up in the block of red in the middle or put them on either side. I need feedback on that too. Or should I lose the pics all together?
Nixx
Nix...don't change it...i love it...the red looks fab....it's my new favorite colour....i wouldn't change it to brown...i have to go back and look at your pix to see about the cozying up thing...but i just wanted to make sure i told you to leave it the way it is....one thought tho'...are those pics just resting on the edge of your headboard??....ummmmm.....i see an accident waiting to happen....atleast it would in my house... :D ...and it would be my head they would land on.....LOL
More Pics...
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the feedback. I painted last night and went to bed at 4am again. I was on a mission!hahaha....Happy that I finally done. I decided to go with Grand Canyon Red B&M Ulti Matte Paint as the focal. I need more feedback because at night I just loved the way it looked. With the lighting it felt so warm and cozy...which is what I was going for. But for some reason...I think it feels sort of cold in the day. Not sure if this gloomy day has anything to do with it. Maybe I'll have to check back on a sunny day.
I went with this colour was so that I could have it tie in with the rest of the house and the den. Trying to keep the colours within the same family. What I do like is that when my bedroom is open it creates instant depth which makes the home feel less narrow.
Hmmm So what am I to do. Now I am thinking of painting that reddish block a deep rich chocolate brown. But than I thought it might feel too much like the living room...which is a monochromatic look that doesn't have any real punch of colour yet.
HELP!?!?!??! Smile
The walls in my daughters room will be light green like cucumber colour, and then I am going to do poka dots on one wall, with a light pink, and a tourquois colour. I think it will look great.
Thanks again for the tip on the paint store, I am going to go on wed. I have the day off! I might accually get to the use the gym here that day too! I am very excited!
Ok so what colour is the wall in your bedroom, I am dieing to find out.
Condogirl the dark browny grey with the blue sounds lovely. I really admire those colours too. I like the idea you have for your masterbedroom. I can't quite imagine what you have planned for your daughters room...what shades of pink and green are you going for? Harvey's Paint and Wallpaper located on Islington and Lakeshore is GREAT!!! They are super friendly, they have great suggestions and they really know how to mix paint. so I just finished the second coat on the masterbedroom focal wall and I'm not so sure if I like it now. I guess I have to take toe tape of and put the bed linens on the bed to get a good sense of how it looks.
Hi Indigo...I have a hutch that was in the living room and I moved it to the bedroom cause it was feeling cramped...but now that it is not there it is feeling like something is missing. So I am going to think about something to put there...possibly a leather bench or tall table....I don't know what the name for it is. I'm stuck for what can go there. I still need a bookcase...not sure where to put it though. I don't want to interfere with the flow too much b/c i'm also interested in Feng Shui and don't want to mess with the chi energy ;) hahaha
Nixx22
Good Luck with your painting.. If you need a hand just open a window and yell! I will be there in about 1 min flat! HAHA
we havent made up our minds on colours at all yet, but I think we are going with a dark browny grey with a blue accent wall in the living/dinning room, a warm grey with orange accents in the master bedroom, and then for my daughters room pinks and greens, and I think just white for the master bath and the main bath. I have NO idea what to do with my kitchen!
I CAN'T wait to see your pics of your finished bedroom!
Thank you so much everyone for the encouragement. I am actually taking a mini break from painting my bedroom. I stayed up till 4 last night b/c I couldn't sleep...when I did finally fall asleep I woke up feeling deathly ill. I think it was from the paint fumes.
So now I am painting with lots of breaks in between. I'm not going to tell anyone what I am doing until it is done....and I will need honest opinions. I may be able to post pics in a few hours. I bought some bed linens and I picked up another can of paint.
Condo girl if you are reading this I may have some of the Grand Canyon Red left over ...I mean a lot left over...if you are interested in having it...PleAse Please let me know.

You did an amazing job! I love it! You shoudl feel proud!
Nixx, your living space looks very elegant! The flowers on the island are a nice added touch:) With such graceful style showing in the main area I'm certain the br will become a work of art too:) I have to ask you if the area against the wall beside the island and behind the arm chair is large enough to put a tall display cabinet or hutch? Looks like a good spot for something like that. I'm always looking for places to add more storage solutions around here I think its become second nature to seek one out whenever I look at a space!lol
Love your condo. You have done a great job. Can't wait to see your bedroom when you have picked a colour!
Kathleen
I think your hedboard looks fine, I think if you go for the red or the cinnimon you could do a kind of asian look in the room with all your dark wood. Maybe you could add a few throw pillows made of differnt coloured silks.
Thought I would post this here to, along with a thanks to foxxy, you found the exact colour I was discribing! I have a few other suggestions as well, Do you have room to lean the mirror against the wall long ways any where in your room, if you do it could ad some nice hight. Then maybe you can do a kind of canopy over the bed, they have some really nice ones at peir one, they come in all colours, so you could find one that would go with the colour of your room.
The paint colour with the mirror on the wall is F&B Loggia. They are suppose to have some new colours out now, so I would check with the F&B dealer and speak with them.
Oh yes I also forgot to mention that the mirror in my room and about the dining table are from Wal-Mart.
Nixx
Foxy I love that colour..can you tell me what it is called and who makes it? It has a nice warm cinammon colour. I really don't know exactly what style I'm going for in the bedroom because I think I've run out of ideas. What I do know is that I want the house to have a nice flow to in and I want all the rooms to compliment one another...and I know that I want to wake up in my bedroom feeling like I never want to leave it. I think if I went with that colour you posted I might be able to achieve that! :)
The coffee tables and side tables were made for me out of mineralized wood. I then stained it some more with tung oil to bring out the rich dark brown in it.
Thank you everyone for the wonderful suggestions and compliments. It is very inspiring. The funny thing is I always said if I didn't get into television as a career then I would be an interior designer. I love HGTV and House and Home, TLC etc. So I must say I've been keeping tabs on all the various inspirations and ideas.
Nixx
like the second pic you posted foxxy....it may be the same as first but you really see the true color in the second, very nice....i have been liking that color lately too, my sister is doing her kitchen in a color like that...thank gosh, i can get it out of my system before i paint every wall a different color lol

I tried to find some pics with the cinammon colour with dark furniture. :)
what a beautiful place you have nix...........and i do love your wall color...oh boy my decision is just getting harder and harder, so many to choose from...you asked about a splash of color, what about a hit of red here and there, in a pillow or throw
smiles

Well done!
Where did you get the coffee table? I'm looking for one, that might be perfect.
