I don't mean a man either! LOL!
Quincy (new kitty) just pulled down my curtain rod yesterday. I had anchors in the wall they came out with the rod...
We have a stud finder and it beeped where the stud were suppose to be but when I went to drill there wasn't one.. AHHHHH! I won't write the words I really said at that moment...
There must be an accurate way to find the studs. Anyone know?

Allegedly..... then there are the others that seem to do that even when they are recalibrated 800 times and you still hit air when you drill.
Please note that most stud finders "beep" at one edge of the stud and then "beeps" again at the other edge of the stud. The space between the beeps is where the stud is located. You can also measure every 16" from the edge of a wall - studs should be located every 16" on centre - and you will be able to mark out evry stud on a wall.

I know exactly what you are going through. I think I knocked a half dozen holes in the walls in one house just looking for the stud the stud finder was allegedly beeping at.
Since I was in my new house at the time, I finally gave up and went to see a house under construction. You should have studs running up the sides of the window, above the window, and along the edge by the ceiling. Sometimes they put a big 2X10 between the top of the window and the ceiling too. The problem is it rarely extends beyond the window which means trying to hang curtains is not easy.
This is one reason why I like plaster. I never have any problem hanging anything with plaster while drywall anchors just seem to keep pulling out with the slightest tug.
Another reason to be careful...my stud finder found a 'stud' so I drilled away and realized there was black plastic coming out. The 'stud' was my waste stack, not a place you want a hole.
to be honest, I still think the best stud finder is a knuckle and just knocking along the wall until you hear the sound change. I wish you luck.
