I would like to put sconces on either side of the fireplace. I would appreciate any suggestions as I am stumped! For starters I am not sure what style or finish goes with this fireplace. I currently have 2 dark brown table lamps but I am happy to move these elsewhere if they need to match sconces. I could use use more lighting in general so could add floor lamp or pot lights if need to.
SInce I have already posted a picture, for any especially energic readers today, I am including family room plans, as is currently setup, and blank plans for any suggestions on new furniture arrangement. I will eventually need to replace furniture so it is an open slate for anything. I wouldn't mind keeping the fish tank in the room and the TV.
Of particular problem is the "you know you what" TV in the corner. There is often a struggle with 2 focal points in a family room, ie fireplace and TV, isn't there? Plus, there is a nice view out the window. I (OK my family) would like to buy a new flat screen, at least 42" if not bigger but not sure how to put it in corner on stand etc... if it stays there. I don't want to put it over the fireplace as it is too high. We have a finished basement but I'd like to try here first. For perspective, ceilings are 9", room is sunken and is open to the kitchen sperated by railings on either side of opening.
