does anyone know how i can attach fabric from the ceiling around the four corners of a bed for a 4 poster bed feeling... withourt using rods?
here is an example of what i am talking about:

....or screw a piece of wood covered in fabric into the ceiling for each corner. Attach a piece of velcro to the wood and to the fabric. This way you can remove the fabric to have them cleaned.

Or, staple the fabric to a piece of wood and screw it into the ceiling. You'd have to cover the wood so it would look good from below but 4 small pieces would work.
You can do what a friend of mine did. You can use towel rings mounted on the ceilings at the four corners of your bed and hang the curtains from that. The towel rings had nice large rings on them (as opposed to hooks) which allowed for a reasonable fullness of fabric.
I think you can push rings into the ceiling at each spot and fix the fabric to the ring. I did a similar thing at the time of my wedding and it worked great, and kept the fabric sturdy.
