even though i water my hanging baskets every morning at around 6 am...gave them slow release fertilizer...2 of them are dead dead dead and the other 2 are on the edge...any idea on what i'm doing wrong?...could they be getting too much sun?...what kind of flowers should i have out there that can take the heat better....not sure what kind of flowers are in them now....i just bought them cuz they looked really nice and full

Catherine is right...the only 2 plants I know planted in baskets that can "take the heat" lol.....gee maybe I should be a " petunia" lol

seriously: geraniums and petunias and some marigolds.
I would move the baskets into part shade and see if they recover any. :) water sparingly as well as some roots may have rotted.

they do get alot of sun in the mid afternoon till nite....that was my first thought (sun)...oh well i guess i have to replace...DH won't even notice...i had them hanging there for 3 days before he even noticed they were there...lol....

Are they getting full sun all day? Then yes, I would think they are getting too much sun and are burning. I think they would prefer some shade during the day to cool down. I think geraniums like full sun...not sure...not a guru gardener...yet...:D
