Framing artwork

We want to update our art and photos and are wondering what is current in art and picture framing?  Is it wooden or metal, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Lis for your reply. At the moment, we have a mix of different wood frames and quite a few metal in both silver and bronze which have been up for quite some time.  I think we're leaning more to using all wood at least in the hallways and main living areas.  By checking out the links you provided , I can see what appeals to me and what doesn't. Appreciate the info.

It really depends on your decorating style, Decorating Diva. We're seeing a lot of eclectic, gallery-style walls that mix framing types e.g. vintage wood and modern wood or metal. Or, gallery-style walls that use consistent all black or all white frames. H&H style editor Michael Penney is a big fan of Ikea's RIMMA frames, for example. Here are a few photos and videos:

Hope that helps!
