Have you considered matching your front door with the closet door ? That would keep a continuity flowing in your house.
Look at your wardrobe and select the color you wear most! Or let your alter ego come alive! Chartreuse, hot pink, red (of course), mustard, electric blue, dove grey, purple. Let your personality shine through. At the worst, you're only out a can of paint and a couple hours of your time. At best, you'll need clever responses at the ready to reply to the compliments you are certain to receive!
I'd like to suggest a burnt cinnamon or rust red.
Thanks for your input, I will look into the Behr colors.
Style editor Michael Penney suggests Paramount 720F-6 by Behr as the closest option to Down Pipe. He thinks grey is a good choice because it won't compete with the navy shutters. He also really likes the new lion head door knocker from Lee Valley (available online). Good luck with the door! Lis.
Thanks lmurphy,
I really appreciate all color suggestions. As far as Down Pipe is concerned, I don't believe it's available where I live. (Rural area) Thanks for your input.

In terms of grey, a lot of House & Home editors seem to like Farrow & Ball's Down Pipe. In a recent blog, editor Catherine MacIntosh showed it on her trim, for example: http://www.houseandhome.com/blogs/house-home-daily/renovators-notebook/m...
Might look striking on a front door, too! Lis.
Mrs. Peacock:
Thanks for your suggestions, I will keep them in mind.

I could see a black (a classic colour and always a safe bet) or a dark shade of blue/grey. Sorry I do not have names, but there have been some black paint conversations here so just search black or black paint and get some ideas of paint names that way.
