We are creating an open concept main floor and are trying to create a barrier between our entrance way and our dining area. We are thinking a half wall with a pillar but are wondering if there are other options. We don't want to build a complete wall as then we will lose light from the front door. Are there other options. I don't think a glass brick wall would be good either.
Any suggestions would be helpful. I tried uploading our floor plans and or a picture but it doesn't work.

Perhaps a bench or something low will create visual barrier into the dining room.
if you dont want to put permanent wall because you dont want to lose the light at front door then try this one, place a big cabinet in between. because with this, you can still have the light that you wanted. maybe this will work.

If it can be an open type wall, (not solid), try using an old garden gate framed in or just attached to the wall, window frames suspended from the ceiling (even attach two or three old window frames together - with or without the glass - and attach to the ceiling and the floor to keep it from swinging. Try building a box about a foot high with stones in it and tree branches - especially white birch - stick in the stones. There is so much you can do, just use your imagination.
