Garden gone wild

I have a lovely yard, but the gardens have gone crazy and I need professional help sorting them out. Mny things are very over grown, and others don't seem to be doing as well as I would like. Is it better to hire someone to identify and reorganise the gardens in the spring, summer or fall? Can you recommend anyone? I live in Don Mills, Ontario.

I don't live in your area so I can't recommend anyone in particular but a reputable landscape designer should be able to help you out. Now is not a bad time to get someone out as everything is still in leaf and identifiable, these people (especially highly regarded designers) are very booked up and busy in the spring and summer months. Most people don't have gardening on their list of priorities this time of year so you may be able to get someone to come over with short notice.
They can recommend better situations to relocate and redesign the garden if your needs are not being met by the existing garden. If budget is a concern, you can request work to be done in stages and they can quote you accordingly. It depends on how much really needs to be done and if you are able to do the work yourself. An hour or so consultation may be all that is required and if a plan is needed, that is usually a couple of hundred dollars but well worth it if you can do the rest of the work yourself.
