garden progress

All these plants were planted in June 2006. They are growing like weeds. If anyone wants plants for zone 3-8 that give your money's worth try Lamb's Ears (silver carpet) and Monarda (bee balm) that both flower into the fall.
I bought them in 6" pots and a year later I have huge clumps that I can divide in the fall. Both will tolerate some shade. The Rugossa rose bush (needs no winter covering) , very rugged and flowers until fall is 3x the size and the Silver Lace vine was cut back to 4" tall in May. I am so pleased with the results so far. :)

The Silver Mound did not do as well :( but is growing in wisps. The Ligularia may be getting too much sun also.

I am always rearranging perennials LOL except this time I did get it right ... a miracle. I would much rather move plants that furniture anyway.
But....the Ligularia I will move on a cool day out of the direct sun as it is not happy. Maybe that is why the 2nd one never showed up this year. I will take a clump of the Monarda for that spot. The smaller rugosa rose has pale pink blooms and was small when I bought it, so it has some growing to do to catch up.

You really planned those well. Looks really great!

It looks as though you got your spacing totally right the first time. I somehow struggle with that. I read the directions and surf the net for even MORE detail, but I still get my spacing wrong almost all the time! I spent a good part of yesterday moving and respacing stuff. Oh well-some people rearrange furniture. I guess I rearrange plants! :)
