On the Dec. 5th episode, gingerbread gift boxes were made. I ran out to get the Holiday issue assuming that the gingerbread recipe would be in there only to find it wasn't. I went into the H&H website and found out the show was actually a 2002 rerun and that the recipe and pattern were in the November 2002 issue. Is there any way I can get this recipe and pattern without ordering a back issue? I don't think I'd get the back issue in time to make this for a Christmas exchange next week.

Thanks for the tips Michy. I made the dough tonight and it certainly is tasty. I read a tip somewhere else to caramelize 1/2 - 1 cup of sugar and use that as "superglue" to put the structure together. Apparently it is super quick in drying and holds more sturdy than just the royal icing. After the structure is together, then use the icing more as decoration.
I made the gingerbread boxes last year and filled then with goodies for my children's teachers for Christmas. They were a big hit! I just spent the afternoon making them again this year. I do have some trouble with the lids, but I eventually get them to stay together! And definately don't try to make them any larger than 6". I've found 4 1/2" is just about perfect.
Thank you so much for posting this so quickly.
I will post a picture once I've completed my boxes.

Good luck. Let us know how you made out!
That would be fantastic if you could! I'd look forward to making some boxes this weekend.
Thanks in advance.
I will do my best to post the recipe and instructions for this by the end of the week. When it's done, I'll come back to this post and insert the link.
Thanks.
