my sister was going to buy me plants for my garden for my 50th b'day (which was in May) but after some medical problems surfaced, we changed that to a bike lol
Anyway, I got one yesterday - a $100 cheapie from Canadian Tire, and got the helmet,. lock and everything else you need these days. After supper, DH and I went round the neighbourhood - all 3 streets; it's the first bike I've had in about 25 years !!!
WOOOOOO HOOOOOO, it was so much fun ! Can't wait to get good at it - got to take it slowly for the sick heart's sake - but it will be SOOOOO good not to be dependent on local public transportation next summer !
Now, how do I strap 14 foot lengths of crown moulding on it . . . . lol

DH has used a bike for transportation for a good few years now - when he doesn't get it stolemn - so i will not be alone most of the time! We live in a neighbourhood that has many trails and parks round about, so it won't be too hard to find different routes, the only thing is whichever way we go is uphill, and that could be a problem for a while, until I get used to it.
BTW. I have also lost 13 lbs since Bad News Day, and only have 87 more to go!
Kipper, not only the heart condition (aortic valve murmur/stenosis, which is more a mechanical condition, not like clogged arteries or heart attack, but the effect is similar, possible lack of oxygen everywhere), but 5 days after that I learned that I have full-blown osteoporisis - family doctor told me that if I fall, I will break ! I have just turned 50, no history of osteo in the family, and I drink gallons of milk !!!!! Ah well, there's no knowing, is there, and somethimes that is a good thing.
enjoy biking! it is so liberating to jump on a bike and ride.
we found an awesome trail at the cottage this summer that leads to a sand quarry. talk about a shocking ride and soar bottoms! ouch!
have fun!
I want one too but I don't like the thought of riding alone. Its kinda lonely. And my friends all suck. They just like to shop for exercise. OK, some of them like walks too which is good -but I wanna get out there and ride! Next summer I'll buy one, company or no company.
Reno-vator -take care of yourself and enjoy your new vehicle!! Remember to signal ;)
With gas at $2/litre we will all be riding around on two wheelers! :hairpull:
Glad to hear you're enjoying the therapy of excerise!
My husband just got a new bike last week and went for his first ride in 10 years with the kids. He looked very happy. I have no bike, because I value the skin that's on my limbs, as opposed to it lying peeled off on the asphalt.
Besides, I get to push the little one on the tricycle.
I was suprised to hear of your heart condition, but I'm glad your road to recovery is to be travelled on two wheels. Enjoy!!
