Have you ever seen a chair like this?

This chair was left behind by the past owners in our new house. I've never seen a chair like this with the V that goes into the seat at the back. Do any of you know anything about this style of chair? http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mDoAVN-yme4/TZusFgx2yPI/AAAAAAAAEK8/ezN5Um2EY0E/s1600/dustychair.JPGWhat would you do with it? What room would you put it in? Would you dress it up or leave it plain?  More pictures here! http://thisdustyhouse.blogspot.com/2011/04/this-dusty-chair.html

These Windsor chairs look great when painted in any colour. White or light blue sounds nice. Be sure to share a picture when you're done :)

Thanks for the help. White is always good with this chair. We might also go with a light blue and use it as a make-up chair. The stability sure makes a difference looking at how old it is it's still in great shape.

Hey there, I asked our vintage-chic guru Michael Penney and here's what he had to say: "I have some chairs very similar to this — you'll see it on windsor back chairs or comb-back chairs, which yours is a lot like.  It provides extra support and stability for the chair back.  I'd leave it simple, even the white is nice and pair it with humble, rustic accessories in an updated shabby chic or swedish country style.  Great score!"
