The headboard is finished!!

We finally finished the upholstered headboard today and put it up behind the bed. I really like how it turned out -- MamboGirl, thanks so much for the directions!!

I used 7 coats of American Walnut stain and 5 or 6 coats of a satin varathane. The finish is really, really close to the finish on the espresso furniture.

Here's a picture of the headboard....

Absolutely!! I can't see how even he can improve upon your headboard. Great job.

chuckles, it took about 3-4 weeks (well, mostly weekends) to do the room. It would've been faster if I hadn't painted it one weekend, and then repainted it another colour the following weekend!!

Elise, I never thought I'd ever be compared to Steven Sabados!!!! Wow!! That's a great compliment!! :)

Funny thing is, the whole time I was thinking about and working on this room, I wanted to refer to my Designer Guys book, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I have no idea where I've put it :(

junebug, I did get two of the faux fur cushions from Beddington's. They were my one splurge in the room. Almost everything else came from Loblaws, believe it or not!! The other throw cushions, the blanket at the foot of the bed, the bedding, the furniture....

And yes, the print came framed and ready to hang, and it was only $19.99 :)

luv2shop, when it's time for guests to leave, we'll send our dogs after them ;) Good luck with your decorating projects!!

Lisi, thanks for the compliment, and I'm happy to hear that I inspired you. To tell you the truth, lots of people on this board inspire ME!!

Thank you all for the kind words :) It means a lot, coming from such a great group of design-oriented people!!

The problem is, now that the room is almost complete and it looks how I was hoping it would look, I don't know if I'll be able to let anyone sleep in it!! ;) I just wish I'd had this inspiration when I was working on the master bedroom....

jag, the stain is Minwax Colour Rich Formula (American Walnut). I got it at Home Depot. The label on the can is beige, and it was I think $7.94 for a small can. It took 7 coats to get it that dark. And I didn't rub the stain off, I just rubbed each coat on with a rag and left it on till it dried.

junebug, I got the calla lily print at.... not Loblaws, but Zellers!! And they had a bunch of other B&W flower pictures. The ledge was already in the room when we bought the house -- it's the transition area between the foundation and the drywall.

Thanks again, everyone!!
