Heidi update..

Well, the puppies are just about 7 weeks (tomorrow) and will be ready to go to their new homes next week. Meaning...Heidi will be ready to come home to us in the next week. We've been going for visits a couple times a week, taking her for little walks, sitting/cuddling/playing with her (and the pups) and OMG...I am in love with this dog! She's still quite submissive, but now runs to us and her whole body wags when she sees us..not just her tail. She doesn't seem aggressive or scared when she sees strangers/other dogs/cats out on our walks but did try to bolt after a rabbit (perfectly normal!). Anyway, we decided that yesterday we'd go pick her up and bring her to our house for a little visit. We weren't sure if she was gonna meet the cats or not...just kinda playing it by ear. She has only been in a car once, the night she was brought home to the rescue..and it was a horribly stressful experience. I guess it left a lasting impression..cause she was not goin willingly into our vehicle yesterday. Paul had to physically pick her up and put her in. Poor girl...she shivered and shook half the way home...hiding her face between DD's arm and the seat. About half way home tho, she sat up a little, looked around and stopped shaking, (well not completely stopped...but sooo much better)
When we got home, I decided right away that there was no meeting the cats during this visit. It'd already been so stressful, I just wanted her to be able to be in the house and get used to the sounds and smells. The cats spent a couple of hours in the basement (mean...I know) and Heidi had the run of the main floor. SHe sniffed everything and explored every nook and cranny...and after a long long time, finally settled down for a nap on her blanket. Paul brought her back to the rescue home at dinner time. He said she shook the entire way back, but sat up and looked around a lot more. The puppies went nuts when they saw her after being apart for 3 hours. LOL. She let them nurse for about 2 mins...then got up and shook them off.
Thats about it. Great first visit. Next week...home to stay. Oh yeah...and meet her new brothers. Oh my....
Here's a couple of pics from yesterday. Lets not mention how BALD Paul looks in the cuddle picture. LMAO!!!

She looks like a keeper for sure. So how did the cats react when they came back? Did they give you the 'hey, is there a dog around here?' look?

Heidi looks like SUCH a sweet dog!!!! I'm so happy for you and Paul and your girls that you found her -- and happy for Heidi that she's going to have a new home where she's going to be loved a LOT!!!! :bliss:

Don't worry, the car thing and cat thing will sort themselves out. Just give it some time and patience :)

How many sleeps till Heidi comes home?? :)
