Pearl_girl, you're just one massive encyclopedia.........thanks for the information because I have seen those insects before but didn't know how to get rid of them.
Trynto...really glad the soap and water worked for you........I had the same problem with my Japaniese quince this year, the first time ever having aphids on it and of course on a nearby rose bush, but I got rid of them too spraying with soap and water.
The water and soap solution worked....I had those aphids a few weeks ago eating my birch tree's...and someone I think LTD suggested that method....I also heard that ladybugs are natural predators....so getting some from a nursery is good....fortunately for me we have several ladybugs working their way up and down the tree so they have help eliminate most of them.....good luck....
I think those are them..thanks so much!!!!
If they look like this they are a type aphid that sucks juices from the plant.
Mix up 1/2 cup vegetable oil and 1-2 tsp. of dish soap in a jar.
Use 1 1/2 tsp. of this mixture to 1 cup of water in a spray bottle.
First hose down the plants when the sun is off them, making sure to get under the leaves. Then spray with this solution once the sun is off the plants. I would also spray any plants near by as well. :)
