Oliveoyl's suggestion of using the tabs on the wrong side of the panels would likely improve the way they hang with very little effort on your part. The panels I bought from Jysk came with almost the same idea of tabs as a tunnel on the wrong side of the panels and they hang beautifully. How wide is each panel?

Jenjen, its stripes for me:) I agree the rod should be hung up closer to the ceiling. The drapes should cover the window frames. I would also open the rods wider and pull the drapes further apart, showing more window and as well spreading them open so each panel looks wider. I have to be honest, but I don't like the leather placemats. It looks like you lean more towards the contemporary stream-lined look which is beautiful but you need some softeness to balance it out. Leather appears very hard just as wood does. I would try and use as much fabric as I possible in that setting because there is already so many hard elements, then you have your appliances and built-ins to add to the straight edges even more. I'd say area rug, fabric runner, fabric placemats, you could even go as far as putting valances (the box ones with a box pleat skirt around it) above the drape panels to give a layered full look. Get dish towels, hand towels and wash rags in the same colour scheme. Then a big ol' bowl of fruit on the counter and maybe some iron candle holders to go with the chandelier and that plant holder you're gonna stick in the corner!:D Geez, I'm bosy today aren't I? When I get an idea in my head I just can't zip it up:D

I really like the striped curtains. I am not a fan of the open tab curtains, so I changed mine to hidden tabs at the back that made them hang more evenly. But most importantly it is what you like. Your curtain rod probably has a centre support that will alleviate some of the sag - but you can also put a piece of dowling inside the rod to make it more stable and even. I have found that rings add alot of extra weight so they need a heavy duty rod.

Hence the reason why I suggested a big rod, iron or wood. The blinds are cute

I'm chiming in a bit late here, but just want to say that I really like the striped curtains too -- good choice!! :) Could you just paint the rod that you have in the same colour as your chandelier??

I agree with the suggestion to replace the tabs with rings. Curtains with tabs just never seem to hang right. If your mom can do it for you, bonus!!

As for the placemats -- if leather is what you like, then why not get leather placemats?? :)

Your kitchen is really coming together nicely -- and it's impressive that you're doing it all without spending a lot of money. Nothing wrong with getting a bargain!! Or two or three :)

The tab top curtains look great. Maybe you should try to hang the curtain rod a bit higher so that the window frame is not visible though the tabs of the curtain.

much better photo. I still like them best. Can you hang your rod higher though, so you can't see the window frame though the tabtops?

I buy what I like, and try to get the best deal. Most times I cannot fathom buying something for a certain price when you can get it much cheaper elsewhere. Maybe I don't have the greatest eye but I thought your panels looked like they were from some place in toronto we wouldn't have here ie upscale. So there! Walmart is awesome. I agree.
