HI,

So..I'm painting the living room today, and when i look over to check on my 2 year old....she is painting the hardwood floors with semi-gloss paint. Apparently I didn't catch her quickly enough cause some of the paint is dry. I can't wash it off, I've tried. Does anyone have any idea if there is a product of some sort that will take this paint off with out me having to sit down and scrape it all off? It's latex.

Thanks, Mel

You guys are great..thanks. She painted a square of approximately 6 feet. And I got it off with just soap and water and a plaster trowel. LOL Our floors are also quite old (as is the house) so you can't notice any scratches that may have occured. I appreciate all the advice...who needs real friends when you ladies are around??

In the past I have cleaned dried paint on wood floors with

Murphys Oil soap and fine steel wool....

mind you my floors are 100yr. old pine planks....but works like a charm...

good luck

did your little darling paint for you? If it isn't much, your fingernail might take it off.

rubbing alcohol. it shouldn't harm the floor.

the fine edged plastic ice scraper for the car windshield works too. :)

May take off the finish. You might try scraping it off with a plastic spatula if it has a fine edge. I have a little teflon scraper that is for Pantry Chef stoneware and it would work well.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I figured I'd be able to take it off with good ole soap and water..but I didn't want to have to scrub my arm off. I was looking for the easy way out. Oh well, I guess I'll get right at it...tomorrow.LOL

our builder uses methyl hydrate to remove paint from the hardwood...use it sparingly and keep the area well vented...(but it does get the paint off...)

Awe yes the joys of painting with small toddlers around. Try 0000 steel wool if soap & water in a damp sponge will not remove it. I have had latex on wood before and removed it days later with no problems. :)
