Ok I am moving all those ugly little things in front garden( they were here when I moved in . I moved them closer together last fall and put in some mums temp)
I am making my bed bigger and the mock up decoguy did for me was cool
but I would like something more interesting.
I love sandcherry
What bushes should I use?? any suggestions ... Oh would a Silver Lace vine go ok across my porch??
I am going to buy something to hide the box on side of house for sure as well.
We are going to put in a new step and walk way as well.
My thumbs are purple and not green and I live in Ottawa area. This area gets sun from midday on .

Do you want a shrub that blooms from spring to fall for colour ?
Potentilla (cinq foil) gets nice a bushy and not too tall. I have had them at a prvious house in full sun and they grew very well. Just the rain watered them and i cut them down 2/3 rds in the early spring only and they were great. I more or less ignored them and they just grew. Hardy little bushes.

Perennial Partial or full sun
Trim in late winter and early spring Moist well drained soil
Grows to 1 to 4 feet high Grows 4 feet wide
Flowers from early spring to late fall FLowers in yellow, other hybrids flower white and red

Well, I think someones been dipping into her own stash.. :biglol: :biglol:

I don't know any of the particulars about the Silver Lace vine..but I think it would sure look pretty across your porch.

As for shrubs/plants..I don't have any suggestiond..purple sandcherries are nice..I have a soft spot for shrubs that have white blossoms, like Bridalwreath and Snowmound Spireas...oh yeah..I've actually been successful at growing them..so they seem to be purple-finger proof..

Good luck Bigmama...gardening is something I always thought was easy as pie..untill I actually started to garden..now I realize there's soo much more to it!!!
