Hello Everyone

This Is my first time posting on this forum so bear with me.  :)

My boyfriend and I recently moved into our first house which was fliped inside but when it comes to the outside it needs lot's of work.  We have recently changed the roof shingles to canadian driftwood (it was a horrible green 3-tab before).  Next is going to be the evestrough, which we were thinking of doing in white.  Then the trim any ideas?  We were thinking of board and batten, but what colour??  Any suggestions on evesthrough and siding colours?  I find it very hard to pick colours with a red/orange brick.

thanks

Janice

Hi, Just an idea...have a look at Para Sarah Richardson's palette (Tarnish) or Benjamin Moore (Cromwell Gray).  I used Cromwell Gray and love it against the red/brownish brick.

Also, can you give me the company of your roof...thanks

Not sure what you mean by doing the trim in a board and batten? I love the house, hate the stair railings. I would replace them and add two columns on each of the front corners to the porch. I would stick with the white and brick for the house but do the new stair rails in black, paint your storm door black and change your light fixture to black. Add white vinyl soffits.

What a great house!  Congrats!  Good move on the shingles. Very neutral.  As for the eaves, downspouts, trim, siding, etc.  I would tend to leave them white.  If you changed all of the above to a different colour but left your windows because they are vinyl and hard to paint and get it stay on, it might look weird with the white outlines of the windows. If everything is paintable - once you install new wood board and batten siding - I would still stay more neutral such as an ivory/cream or tan.  If you leave everything white, 1. paint the metal railing with a rust proof black paint  2. remove the screen/storm door or replace it with a wooden one that can be painted the same colour as the house door.  3. repaint the front door to a bold colour such as gloss black - royal blue - sun yellow - tangerine orange - etc.  4. replace the outdoor light with something alot larger and in black  5. change and move the house number to below the light so they will show up at night  6. paint out the foundation that is painted white now to a colour to match the brick/or black/or grey - something that will not standout and draw attention to that area  7. plant some fuller bushes, etc in the flower beds such as box woods.  Hope this helps to give you ideas.
