Help! We just purchased a home that has no color, outdated fixtures and cabinets but new black granite countertops in the kitchen. I'm having troubles picking colors based on the fact the granite is black. I would like a cozy country feeling with a bit of drama. Any color ideas for the walls and/or cabinets??
Thanks!!

I think a black an white kitchen would look stunning, just make sure to set your budget before making any adjustments. You've just bought your home so perhaps you should choose the project which is the most budget friendly. Anyways, changing your kitchen look is going to be so rewarding!
If you want an alternative to painting your cabinets, you might want to consider cabinet refacing. Your doors and drawer fronts are replaced with new doors in the style and colour that you choose. Doors are installed with new soft close European hinges. All visible surfaces of the cabinets are also changed to your new colour.

I so like those photos of the white kitchens with black countertops! If it were me I'd keep the walls white and paint out the cabinets white as suggested, then add colour and warmth with accessories. I'm so tired of seeing all that grey/greige in everyone's homes these days and those muted greens to me seem dreary and dated. Depends on your taste I suppose.
I so agree! White cabinets and dark countertops are striking.
Hello samantha17,
This would be a great question for our Ask A Designer column:

Or take a look at these for inspiration. I love the look of white cabinets paired with dark granite. Like you said, cosy country with a bit of drama :)

Hi, looks like your cabinets are honey oak color, which is quite outdated unfortunately. Painting them white would make your kitchen look bigger and have more timeless appeal.
Oh wow thanks so much. I also like the grey and the blueish living room( the second one, what color is that?). However I forgot to mention there will be new furniture and I'm hoping to paint/stain the cupboards so I need help with what to do with those as well?
I think I like the grey one the best.
Looking at the furniture in your TV room, I think your style is towards contemporary, so I would suggest more neutral colors for your 'white' kitchen. The 4 options have different shades of undertone and gives you different feel.
