i already have my favorite ones picked out......there is a solid sheer, feather patterned sheer and a plaid sheer..........i did not hang the so called red ones as they were not red they were wine color and far too dark....my fav is the plaid, which a while back was a pattern that Claudia S has suggested, but never could find any around here, they are new to sears........so what do you think, i will post the ones i tried.........thanks bunches

You know you can order from IKEA online.

Is there a post on here that I can look at that has the pictures of your room? I do remember your chesterfield -- but if you wouldn't mind pointing me in that direction -- I'd like to have a "boo" again. Thanks!

Gayle

After looking through this thread and on the hunt for casual drapes myself may I add a few suggestions to the mix.

Go to ikea.ca and check out these ones:

Arden Ruta - they are plaid, much heavier than the ones posted, I think they are made of cord.

Alvine Bi - light and breezy, love the bees, their colour would definitely complement your room.

Inez Stra and Arden Blom also caught my eye.

I have to say I kind of liked the curtains that were posted, they're lighter. I'm not a big fan of red drapes of any type too theatrical. JMHO.

Goof luck with your hunt.

you didnt cause any turmoil at all..........so dont you worry....i just wanted to make sure i didnt offend you as that wasnt our intentions. You are right, it is water under the bridge. :)

wow! I can't believe the turmoil I caused by simply posting the pic of the drapes. I am so sorry for causing any disrupt, I was generally just relaying a post I saw and thought Janet would be interested in red's opinion. I am sorry for being so naive, I never knew the circumstances of the relationship.
I genuinely thought red was helping out, even thoughI was wondering about her comments about the plaid, and blue and choc colour combo (a jab at my mbr, maybe?) Anyway let's forget it and continue to help out here.

Mel and Janet, I was most surprised about the pm's! I started to laugh, I had no clue what you guys were going on about! I am not easily offended, water off my back :D No need to fret, haha

tryntodecorate....i didnt order any blue curtains....but i did order two other colors just in case i find the red too strong.....so time will tell come friday...by the way which color did you order yours in :)

Luvtodecorate..........unfortunately the heater does go past the window, and further on one side than the other....good idea but i had already thought of that one too :)

Janet, an idea popped into my head right now....how about extending the curtain rod out more so as the panels are hanging at the side of the window, thus having the panels away from the heater (I'm hoping the heater doesn't extend beyond the window frame)....I have seen panels done this way for some reason or other and this way you will have a full view of your big window.....now I'm not too sure if you have enough room by the T.V. wall....do you think this will help you with the heater dilemma, at least :)

To whomever...

Just read the other site regarding Red's comments for chosing the panels she did.....and I do see that she is trying to push blue instead of red which probably works better in Janet's room...so I can see where she is coming from...but I am still not convinced on her intentions...however I do agree that red ( the color) may not be a good choice for Janet's room...I personally liked the PLAID......LOL.....okay Janet so we will be waiting for the final reveal.....who would have thought you would have a network of forums biting their nails waiting for the big moment.................GOOD LUCK............ :D

tryntodecorate's picture

janmac....

Not to belabour the issue but......can you answer this with a fair response?....

Do you not find it odd that Red started a thread about panels beings hung 3 inches above the floor etc and then directed a post at Janet about which curtains she should use?.....I believe that Red also started a thread about finding a picture on the internet where SOMEONE had painted their room with grey and had a "brown feature wall".... which of course she didn't like..( being kind here) ......within a day or so after Janet posted her bedroom pictures.......

I have not been around this forum long enough to know the history...but I do know that Janet seems to be genuine...and if she doesn't take someone's advice...that is her choice.........

I agree that Red has great taste but some advice can and should be dismissed......because as the saying goes..." to each its own".......

I am happy that you enjoy both forums and hope that you will continue to post on both sites...................... :D

im sorry if you misunderstood, my rant was not towards you two at all....but i was jumped all over, yet i didnt post the curtains and i wasnt the only one as you can clearly see jem that made comments about them, ....but once again i have become yours and your groups target, but that is okay> enough said

any particular reason why this message would be posted here...wouldn't it have been easier for you to just post it over yonder

yea see i have no shame...so i can hide my head in it...i'm sorry each to their own but like i said they are fugly curtains...they may look good hanging in real life...but from what i've seen at IKEA...i doubt it

Jem...come off it girl...you know damn well that Red has no interest in helping Janet!!! What a pile of crap you are trying to sell!!! Maybe you can find a buyer elsewhere??

Janet, I commented on those drapes because I truly thought they should be considered, not trying to cause anyone any trouble. But you fly off the handle and start all kinds of accusations. I have been a member on this forum far longer than you and many good people have come and gone. Be careful with your accusations .

And I didn't think anyone was being ungrateful for suggestions...I know that I personally HATE those curtains...not because Red suggested them...I am not that petty...and am a HUGE fan of a lot of Red's decor ideas...I just didn't like the damn curtains!!
Isn't everyone entitled to their opinion??
Mel

Oh, and I appologize if I was rude to Cat or Janmac..that wasn't my intention. :o

least i know i can sleep at night because i treat people with respect....stop turing the tables, it has become real old......if your friend wasnt so nasty at times she wouldnt need defending............i cant believe after everything you guys read from her that you claim her innocence.........stay out of my business

you guys take no part in this forum unless its too make trouble...do you honestly think her help was from the goodness of her heart, and im sure im not the only one who seen this. Was there a sudden memory loss of a certain post where this same person tears apart the style, color and kind of curtains im looking at, not that i asked her opinion and then suddenly post a thread helping me....is it okay for her to also peek over here and make fun of other members room colors that they have choosen, is it okay for her to rip apart this forum and H&H and other tv designers, which by the way are tv personalities and that they are suppose to be protected because they cant be defamed, her words not mine..........i guess you all see that as acceptable behaviour....im really fed up that you guys run around treating the rest of the world like we are low life people and then when we defend ourselves, suddenly we become the nasty people. YOU ALL NEED TO TAKE A LONG HARD LOOK...and perhaps you need to speak to your leader about her insults and the way she treats people.........personally i have had enough of your crap, i dont bother you on your forum and you all have nothing nice to say about this one, so why is it that you cant just leave us alone to enjoy this place
have a good day

I don't convey messages from anyone. I convey my thoughts only. And, I thought all were welcome here. Or are the reports, so vehemently denied, correct?

Reginagirl's picture

I'm not sure why you felt the need to post that. The people who value Reds opinion go to her forum, those who don't stay here. This has nothing to do with Jenats personailty. If you all don't like the way you she makes descions I suggest you don't read her threads instead of sending message from captian red.

Red, I wonder why you continue to try to help some when it is well documented that it is a very common thing for certain personality types to ask for help and then reject everything they are offered. Is it some part of magical thinking where they are looking for someone else to solve their problems without taking any serious action, and they will not respond to most of the attempts to help them because they reject the advice as being too difficult or as not satisfying their need to be placated. Some people don't really want to take action — they just want sympathy and attention.

It really is a question of being willing to make an effort, take action, accept expert help and advice.

itsjustme was trying to be helpful, as was janmac and their advice was immediately discounted too.

To janetc, your pm personality is coming out on the board. You and all your cohorts should all be hiding your heads in shame.

may be a trend and in house and home, but honestly i dont even believe that they suit the style of my room...and because im so undecisive i havent even decided on accent colors or curtain colors...i wont know until my next batch comes in........i do like the brown and blue combo that some claim shouldnt exist, but as i said i will see when i unload the next lot of curtains :)

I think those curtains have a lot of potential. They are actually featured in the recent H&H as a trend. They are light but bring in the brown and the blue that you were looking for Janet. Don't be so quick to dismiss them.

now you guys thought that my curtains with the flowers were horrid.....they look like they have snowflakes on them to me........even my bad taste would have to say NO! reginagirl....perhaps it was suppose to be a joke :D as they say my mother may dress me funny but im no fool....thanks cat for thinking of me :)

first she makes fun of the plaid ones and then suggests some, what poor taste. I think it is very funny that she lurks here she must not be very busy these days if she has time to lurk here.
