I remember hearing something about getting rid of that terrible smell from oil paint.
I need to use it to paint my stucco ceiling, and the smell really gets to me.
Is there another solution to paint my stucco ceiling besides oil?? I heard that water takes a really long time to adhere and can take numerous coats.
Does anyone have any suggestions?? please help!
Thank you

Hi,
Vinegar really does work. I just painted my bathroom with oil. I used BM, which I find is not as smelly as other paints. I left a small bowl of vinegar on the vanity through the painting and overnight once I finished. There was no smell of paint in my house.
Hope this helps.
I'd heard somewhere, sometime a long long loooong time ago, that an onion cut in half, immersed in a bowl of vinegar, placed in the middle of a recently oil-painted room, really helped rid the odour.
I recently tried it, and it really did seem to work.
Any other experiences with this sort of thing?
My brother, who is a professional interior painter, suggested considered renting a professional spray painter? You can rent them inexpensively, and you can use latex with them for stucco ceilings - you just have to get the combination of paint and water right. He also said that it takes half the time it to paint as it would a roller, but the downside is that you will need to cover EVERYTHING (incl walls) with plastic, as the dustresponse is horrible to deal with if it gets on anything.
Just a thought
If I'm not mistaken, Farrow and Ball carry a line of low odour Interior Oil based paint. I'm responding before I go to the website, but I'm sure I've heard that....
In fact, I think most larger brand lines sell low odour oils.
