We're in the middle of renovating a laundry room and I've decided to buy 10 laundry baskets on wheels from Ikea. One for each colour load. I would like to label each basket with its corresponding colour load ie. White, Black, Grey, Red etc. The laundry bag is made of nylon. I want the label to be professional loolking in black letters.
Any suggestions?

No I don't think you can iron nylon.
But I've decided to use the T-shirt transfer paper, iron it on a piece of white medium weight fabric, maybe a twill, and use fabric glue to adhere it to the laundry basket. I would like to use a calligraphy font, just to add a feminine touch to the laundry room.
I'll post a pic when I'm finished.
Thank you for all your great ideas.
Can you iron nylon?
Thank you for your replies! :)
Jan in van, what kind of sheet labels, iron on? What about printing on white fabric and sewing them on. But how do I print on fabric? I could buy the t-shirt transfer papers and iron them on the piece of fabric, then sewing them to the laundry bag.
10 baskets is alot! One each for whites, white socks, pastels, greys, reds/brights, blue/browns, blacks, jeans, white towels, and gentle. This will make it easy for the family to place their dirty laundry and when it comes to doing laundry its all sorted. I just want to be able to roll the basket to the washing machine and stick it in. Simple. There are 5 in my family. Lots of laundry! Never ending task.
Presidents Choice makes a liquid laundry soap for cold water wash. I use it sometimes and it seems to work well, it smells nice and clean.
Do the carts have a spot that is designed for a label? I'd suggest buying a sheet of large labels and printing them up with a nice, large font. 10 baskets is quite a few - you must have a large family.
I sort by dark cold, light colour cold, regular/perma press, whites & towels. I try to wait until I have a full load before washing. I actually think my cold is too cold. The water is really cold. I read recently that cold is approx 105 degrees to allow the soap to react properly. I should find a good themometer and check that out.
How about keeping it simple and just painting a square in the colour the bin is designated for? So if it's whites, the bin has a white square, black a black, etc. Some simple acrylic craft paint and tape would make it permanent and neat. You could also do symbols for hand wash or dry clean the way they do on clothing tags if you want.
For lettering, I can't think of a good way to do it unless you have a very steady hand or good stencil. The dry transferable letters might not take the movement the nylon bins might have and could end up getting tatty after a while.
