How to get privacy in my backyard?

I am moving into a new house. We now have a backyard, which is great but we share a common driveway with our neighbor which runs between our houses and separates our yards. Our backyards are not divided by a fence and the space feels like it's shared. I would love more privacy, especially on our back deck. One of the things I am struggling with is how to create privacy without making our backyard and deck area seem smaller. The driveway isn't used by cars but not sure if we can block it.Any suggestions on how to do this?View of yard from deckView of yard from deckDeckDeck

Hello Trixie,Congratulations on the new house! Your backyard looks lovely. If you don't want to have a permanent privacy screen as suggested by Mrs. Peacock, you could always try easy curtains. In this video (http://www.houseandhome.com/tv/episode/restoration-renovation-home-tours), the homeowner created outdoor curtains using painter's dropcloths. If you were to construct a very simple frame around the deck to hang the curtains, you would have the option of pulling curtains back when you didn't need the privacy, or closing them when you wanted some peace and quiet.Hope this helps!JenniferWeb Promotions Editor
