How to make sliding windows slide easier

Our basement white vinyl sliding windows are really hard to slide open and to slide close,I tried WD40 that helped a little, but they're soo stiff and hard to move. Is there anything else I could try on the window tracks to make them slide easier.:)

Wax and lubricating oil can be the best option to smoothen the slider of your basement.

Put some oil into the corner of window if your window is made up of wood and if it is made of other material than wood then ask for carpenter's help

Try rubbing some candle wax in the ruts.

My basement slider does that - gets really really hard to move - and invariably it's crooked on it's track or something. I can never see it, but if I lift it off and put it back on - presto it works.

I would try Jig-a-loo products. Either Jig-a-loo itself or their graphite product

Yes there is. it's a spray silicone (goes on clear, you can't see it). I am not sure if it's advertised for windows or what but in one house I had the window folks had to come out to fix my patio door and sprayed it on all my vinyl windows. It was great and made them very easy to slide. I also used it on some drawers and it worked for that too. I wish I still had the can (they left it for me) but it was a standard spray can size, simple white label. I wonder if you could find it at Canadian Tire or similar as I bet it has a lot of uses.

I just googled and it looks like there are several different brands of silicone spray. I also found this which may give you the idea of how do to your window
