We had this old entertainment stand. It was cherry oak and I personally loved it! Well it stood about seven feet tall. I took the two sides off and now I am putting them together to make a table. We need a computer desk that is deeper than the one we have now.. I bought some legs at Ikea and some brackets to hold it together in the middle... I will post pictures when I have the room completed. Personally I think it looks wonderful and I am a crafty cheap women!!!

think of it as your small contribution to the environment...you recycled and now there will be one less TV unit in the land fill. :)
I quite often salvage shelves and lengths of wood of furniture that is about to be tossed and re-use them in my shed, garage.

I think you are resourceful not cheap....my friend made shelves for her laundry room from an old wwod door she had HD saw in half for her and she carted back/forth on her car roof...
I havea fmaily member who frequents the neighbourhood recyle dump and comes home with all manner of stuff....1/2 sheets plywood, sheets of drywall, 2x4's 8 ' long, frost fencing, frost gate, wood shelves, kids small bookcase..file cabinet...I mean good thing he has a large garge and box trialer., :)
