because I like shrubs and perennials more than I do turf and I hate mowing. I really appreciate somene elses well maintained lawn though. It wasn't that big a job to remove the sod, they have a little machine that cuts it away from the ground and took about an hour or so.
I planted most of the stuff growing there now, other than the larger trees. It was a lot of work, time consuming, and almost killed my physically because I really pushed myself to get it done faster than a normal person would go at it. That was last year and this year I planted a little bit more but was done by the end of June so this summer was much easier on me.
Wait until you get your fence before you walk barefoot in your yard. People have been inconsiderate with their dogs in our area.. ewww. So far I've had 4 incidents in the past year! But enjoy it, the whole place will look so different, and bigger believe it or not.
in my old neighbourhood there was a woman that had allergies to grass or something...so she removed all her grass and did wild flowers and ornamental grasses...really beautiful...but i like Jeep love to walk in the plush grass bare foot...lol...kinda like walking on a shag carpet...lol...can't do that here...all i have here is weeds that aslong as we keep it cut...looks like grass from the highway... :D
Why would you ever dig up sod? For me it is like gold! LOL! That sounds like alot of work....
was when I got my sod removed, I had 140 cubic yards of planting soil brought in and I landscaped the entire property. Weird, eh?
Jeep it will be so nice! With the dog and the muddy paws.. It was killing me trying to keep our house clean. Now wonderful sod.. I can't wait!
I remember the day well the happiest in my boring life. No more dirt is a good thing. It also looks so nice when it is down and i walked all over it in my bare feet it felt so good.
