Dawn and ILC thanks for your kind feedback. it is a lived in home with 2 young kids and a spastic dog! we tried to make it flow throughout so that things can be moved around from room to room when needed. drives DH nuts that i move stuff around all the time but sometimes by just moving something into another room gives it life again.
ILC...the table was mom's old kitchen table from years ago and i refinished it when we moved here to match the chairs which were from Sears bought last summer from their Outlet store. the trunk at the bottom of the stairs is fantastic storage for stuff needed every so often like winter gear, table linens and other odds and ends. i didn't intentionally try to mimic the trunk pattern on the wall but these things have a way of manifesting themselves don't they? a subconscious design plan... ya that's it!

I love what you've done: you have truly created something beautiful: and yet it doesn't look like just anyone's home...I'm not sure I can explain that, but so ofetn when I'm browsing through the mags I get the feeling that all that stands between me and a great looking home is $$ and product availability. Somehow, though yours is magazine worthy--it feels like your "own." It feels warm and inviting and like someone actually lives there!
I love your kitchen table and chairs. Gorgeous! Where did you get them? And that big piece at the bottom of the stairs: did you plan the wainscotting to mimic it? Beautiful. So harmonious!
