OK

I as well am using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 so that could be why the issue with the pictures! Why can't "one size fits all". Drives me crazy that you have to have all these add on things for every different senario!
I know! What a relief. THERE WILL BE NO MORE TALK OF PICTURES MORPHING INTO LITTLE RED DOTS OR DREADED-RED-X'S LOL!
I was using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 prior to yesterday. DH had installed/set up the Mozilla Firefox on my computer a few weeks ago and told me I should use it but I kept with the old out of habit. Now there's an 'I-told-you-so' moment for him!
Thanks for keeping up with my failed attempts and helping me along the way.
Oh, and one more thing, to see if we can replicate it - what version of Internet Explorer are you using?
Looks like you've got it, Dawn!
We'll start looking at that bug in Internet Explorer and the 'preview' box, however. Thanks for your patience so far, and happy posting.
Trying 'center' agian.
I just hit the "preview comment" box and confirmed the words all show below the picture, but it's wierd how they display in this box. Oh well!
Now to work out my spacing issues so I don't create strange-looking posts.
I'll begin with seeing how a centered image leaves the cursor for me to continue:
I hit the cursor once to get directly beneath the last posted picture and add this line.
Now to post my comment and see if I have a handle on this.
In my last post, where I seem to have been successful, I used Monzilla Firefox. In all prior practice posts when I could only produce thumbnails, regardless of whether I chose thumbnail/preview/original, I was using Internet Explorer.
trying something else.........
I should mention that I do have a pop-up blocker, but I made H&H an 'allowed site' so I don't think that's my problem.
Another day, another try: (I posted the same picture in original, preview, thumbnail)
test ... with Dawn's settings
No luck.
That didn't work either. I have an idea though. I'm going to try AGAIN, and this time I'm going to wait a full ten minutes after selecting 'original' to see if the slowness of the site has anything to do with my struggle.
I was very careful to make sure I selected 'original'. As before, it was looking like it worked immediately after the picture loaded to my post, and it showed 'large' ("original" size) in the comment box. Then I hit the "Preview comment" button and the "original" size picture is replaced with a tiny red mark I cannot see but assume is the dreaded-red-x-in-the-box. THEN I hit the "Post comment" box to complete my post and find I still have a problem posting 'large' pictures.
I'll try again without hitting the 'Preview comment' button:
trying again:
looks like you still used the 'thumbnail' setting rather than original... at least that's what it's saying behind the scenes. Can you try again?
Well that didn't work either.
So I selected "original" and the picture still posted small. I'll try again, without previewing my comment first, to see if that makes a difference. I have trouble with spacing also, as you can see. When I post a picture and it shows 'large' in the reply box AND I want to continue typing, I end up scrolling down the side of the picture to get beneath it to type. Clearly that isn't working out nicely either because the final post has that large empty blank space.
Let me check-I'm pretty sure "original" is not a listed option when I post a picture.......
(cursor is here after I post and I just want to see how my post looks if I actually type here, since when I scrolled down to write below my pictures before it left a giant white space)
Now I'll scroll down to get under the picture-bear with me
This is where I go to continue my post by writing BENEATH a picture after posting it.
Back to the picture-posting: This is the first time I have ever seen the choice of "original", so I used it. I don't know how I missed it before. (if it was always there?) I'll bet it will work this time.
I used original for both those images. When I see your images, they're small (the way thumbnails should display).
My developer is looking into the preview option - it may be that it's not needed, however - we can see about taking out the option if it's confusing in the end.
"it looks like your pictures are going up just fine, just not displaying as they should in the text box when you're composing, is that right?"
Wrong. When I view this whole thread your guitar shows just fine, as in 'large picture', and my pictures of smoodgie's chair in her office are showing up as small thumbnails I have to click to see larger. That's my main problem. I just thought it may be useful to mention that those pictures I posted don't stay displayed 'large' in my preview box very long-they show as "little red dots" which are probably the dreaded red x-in-the-box as in post #22 and #25 above me now as I type. Those posts are showing as failed pictures to me, with the red x-in-the-box inside blank spaces where the pictures were SUPPOSED to show.
When you open this thread, are my pictures of smoodgie's office chair showing as thumbnails as they are for me, or 'large' like you guitar?
Thanks for your help.
Hi, Dawn - our developers are looking into your issues - it looks like your pictures are going up just fine, just not displaying as they should in the text box when you're composing, is that right?
testing flowers (settings: size:original, alignment:none):
All I seem to have figured out so far is that the images I post show up the same whether I choose preview or thumbnail. (tiny picture that will enlarge after clicking) I'm not sure what I'm missing.
I tried saving pictures smoodgie posted, which show large in her post, to see if I can repost them that way. No can do.
I tried posting without using the upload function, using a picture I'd already uploaded.
I tried posting with and without a final preview to my post.
???
(trying 'thumbnail' again just for kicks)
Trying something else..........
Trying again. This time I WON'T preview comment.
Back again. This time I'll post pictures that worked for smoodgie.
I had trouble getting under the picture to write this line. Here's another picture
I'm getting a little loopy with this, but it seems that the pictures show 'big' until I check my post by hitting the "Preview comment" button. Then they show up as tiny red dots, which is what i see now as I preview. On to "Post comment"...........
Clearly that didn't go so well.........again! Time to walk away and do something else. When I come back for more humility and frustration (lol) I think I'm going to copy and past pictures that posted nice for other people.
I'm back. I only remember a choice of thumbnail and preview, no original. Let's see:
OK, I chose preview and my picture is a nice size in my post. I'll try another...
The last picture is on it's side but I did that on purpose.
both pictures show very small in a large space that I assume is needed for the actual size they will show as. I'll hit enter and see how it goes today! (there was a huge space after the first picture I posted when I saw it in preview, and I imagine it's because I kept hitting enter to scroll down to below it. I tried to fix that..........might have been a mistake..............)
