We have a mudroom that sees a lot of use as a summer place to eat and entertain. It has seven big windows in different lengths that I need to cover. There is no need for privacy. I'm going for an outdoorsy look -- I want to feel like I'm at the lake! Any suggestions?

Sears has matchstick bamboo blinds that are rather inexpensive and come in different colours. A lot of people use them on porches sometimes, so they may give the area the feel you want. I think they come in standard sizes (not custom width) but with a bit of patience you could make marginal changes to the width of the closest appropriate sizes of your windows.
I've used plain flat sheets to create balloon curtains, swags or just plainly gathered on a wooden dowel or old metal rod, copper pipe or whatever you have around. You might want to leave all the same length to create some uniformity with your varying window sizes. Keep it very simple to create that look you want. If privacy is not an issue, why not create swag type toppers with hooks. Hope this helps.. Norm
