Has anyone here been through a 2nd storey addition? I'm looking for any insight or experience you might have gained from the project. What would you have done differently? Not at all? Tips or tricks?
We have a 2 bedroom bungalow in NS that we'd like to move into in the next 5-7yrs (don't worry I wouldn't deface my sweet '30s bungalow here in Toronto by adding a second storey). So my timeframe is long on this one and up to now it's just been a pipedream but I figure the more I look into doing it the more reality I can interject :)
After the bit of research I've done, I believe the first step is contacting the City's Planning department to make sure they'd let me put a second storey on, then an engineer to make sure the foundation could handle a second storey...if anything I think that is where I'll run into issues as the original builders were kinda cheap.
