Installing laminate flooring

Hello!

I am installing laminate flooring in my living room.  I presently have carpet and a small 5 by 6 feet of tile.  Will it be tricky removing the tile?  Are there tips to remove it without wrecking the subfloor?  Do I need to put a subfloor under the laminate?  Thanks very much for your help!

Not on our site, but there are a few videos over here on The Home Depot website that might be of use.

Kindernut - are you doing laminate because of being less expensive, or is it that you really prefer it over wood?

We did our upstairs in bamboo engineered wood and the cost was $2.29 a sq ft. We got a deal I know, but I much prefer the wood to the laminate that we have in our basement.  It scratches easily and water can ruin it quite easily. And it feels spongy which may be because of the foam underneath that was required over our cement floor.

Your subfloor should e good under the laminate. They will give you a sheathing to put in between.  Since the area of tile is small, it should be easy to get under it and pry it up.  You can also break it up, but I would try to pry it first.  What color are you going with?
