Hello,
I've wasted much time the last few weeks finding the right solution for both an interior and exterior railing for my house (two different problems). If someone can help, I'd appreciate it. I'm a good DIY'er, but not adverse to hiring someone for both jobs if it makes more sense
1) Interior - Stainless/Glass Railing
I really like the look of the modern stainless/glass railing systems, but I am SERIOUSLY at a loss for finding where to get the hardware and tempered glass. The hardware systems I can see on line are all for major commercial projects. Is there anywhere I can get the items to do a nice bright residential railing with glass? I need:
- Locations in Toronto (or that will ship) the glass mounting hardware, railing, and ballusters OR
- Locations in or near Toronto for good quality folks that do this (must be the case, I see these in many homes)
2) Exterior Railing for Stone Front Porch
Our stone front porch has no railing. It was done in a flag stone (which is "shale-y" unfortunately, so it's taking a beating in the winter, but that's another story) and we're lucky no one has fallen off it in the winter. I like the look of stainless steel railings, and also the stainless steel "wire" type railings, but again, I'm looking for a cost effective supply for:
- Hardware around Toronto (preferred) OR
- Good quality contractors to just take the job
Thanks in advance everyone!
Rich

Hi Rich,
I am also in Toronto, and share your frustration with finding an interior railing.
If I get it made, the pricing seems to be $150 to $200 per linear foot. I think the DIY pricing should be more like $50 to $60.
Were you able to find anything?
