i believe it was the pics of your house that showed leather sofas...i have been considering this for a long time...as you know this couch will not be staying in this living room, im far too stubborn to live with something im not too fond of lol anyhow how do you like them in comparison to fabric....are your seat cushions attached...or any recommendations on style you prefer or things i wouldnt want as far as the design for comfort...i do know from previous postings about asking if its bycast, all leather and so on....love to hear your take...most i have spoke to, say they wouldnt go back to fabric after owning leather
thank you

I'll attach a picture of what I have. I happened to buy a digital camera last week and so have been following li'l furface around driving her nuts with it so here's when she happened to be trying to sneak up on something under the chair.

Last time I had cream which I liked just fine but this time I decided I wanted a leather that would age really well (particularly with paws around). I wanted a natural colour that would either self heal or look good scratched. This leather does both actually. I love it as I just don't have to worry about it and really have had no problems in 3 the years I've had it. I would guess the cream one needed cleaning four or five times more often than this colour....mostly from things like newspaper ink getting on it and general dog and people oils/grime).

As for the velcro, those cushions do not move even a mm which I totally appreciate after having ones that shifted constantly. They do give off a nice ripping sound when they are removed but other than that, I never have a worry about their position.

on our first leather couch, it had removable cushions as well, but it had an elastic and hook harness system to keep them in place. I found it too hard to unhook them, so once I got them open, I never attached them again, just left them loose.

Didn't have a problem with them shifting then either, but then it was from the same furniture manufacturer

DBD...I wondered about that too, but because i have seen so many with stay put seats i thought somehow the leather was different...mmmm now does the velcro they put in help keep them in spot good...thanks so much for your input...what is your colour choice and are you able to post a pic too

My last leather sofa had a problem with the cushions sliding. My new one has velcro strips that holds the cushions tight.

I like being able to remove the cushions as I tend to sit in the same place all the time and being able to rotate the cushions around means the one that got a bit 'sat on' can recover in another position.

jen, those are exactly what i was picturing...i knew it was you lol and i do like that style you have too....looks comfy and your seats that you sit on dont come off...????making sure that is what you said

kipper, im very happy for your imput as well.....so many people have said that the leather tends to go to thier body temperature, instead of the sticky or cold thing...i like the idea of the seats staying put, i hate when they move around
thanks so much to both of you,

sorry to intrude on the thread, hope you don't mind, I thought I'd share about leather couches.

I have a leather set (couch and loveseat) in my living room, and a leather couch in our home office.

Love leather, I'll never go back either. So easy to clean up, no worries about stains. Dust just wipes off.

My livingroom couches have loose cushions, my office does not. The only complaint with the loose cushions is that children make forts out of them occasionally.
They don't slip out or shift when sitting on them.

The quality of my office couch is not as good as my livingroom set. It's a bit "elephanty" in comparison, but it still looks good, feels good, and does wear a little better than the softer set ( the office couch used to be in the family room at the other house)

I find leather a little cold when you first sit on it in winter, but warms up right away. I've never found it sticky in warm weather though.

I'm very happy with them both, and I'd recommend it to anyone with kids.

i won't go back either....ours are cream coloured...yes even with two lil monsters...lol....the cushions are attached...they are real leather...DH picked them out and we got them from Sears...they are easy easy easy to clean...i don't use leather cleaner like you're supposed to...i actually have a cleaner that i get from a place called Peterbilt...they sell/repair dump trucks...it's actually for grease and stuff when cleaning the trucks...doesn't work on the trucks but it works great around the house...it is soooooo comfy i prefer the puffy looking ones...i don't find it cold in the winter either...i would recommend that you get the ones with the cushions attached....been there done that with the loose cushions...couldn't stand it....but IMO leather is the only way to go...check out Sears...i know they aren't one of the top of the line furniture stores but they have some nice stuff and at reasonable prices...if you can get to one check out their outlet stores...even better deals
