Hey JJ.....
I know you have stained a lot (okay, you know what I mean, right?)
I have stained furniture, and floors, in my day..(ha!).but our deck off our loft on the 3rd floor was left untreated. I would like to stain it a grey to match the limestone. Have you used colored stain ever outside?....and do you suppose it would be sucked up immediately...
we checked out a new product, only available at Home Depot here, it's click in tiles...we want to do that on the floor....(they are wood)...they look amazing!
The deck gets a lot of sun and about a month ago in a huge windstorm, we lost a beloved tree (about 30ft)....it was on our neighbours property (fell into ours), so now there is much less shade....
should I just coat it with a clear poly or would you think the color stain would take?
okay, I'm ramblin'...

You sound ready for your new bed..........
okay, so here is the deck.....the tree on the right is what came down...so sad...we lost loads of privacy......just one of those things that can never be replaced ya know..??
you can see the condition of the wood...pretty dry...we power sprayed it last year...
the grasses in this picture grew very tall..so it hides a lot of the railing, which is a good thing I suppose.
The carpet lasted a good 3 Summers, but is going...
you are so funny about the wind....
we have had some crazy ones lately....
here is the tree down too.....can't tell how large it is laying there...knocked into the side of our place and kind of folded up.
scary s**t
ok yea maybe a picture would help...SHUT UP MEL!!!!
ok Mel...bite me turd!!!...lol...i went out shopping...i did not get the mirror...but i got a new racing coat...a few new belly rings...some toe rings...a new bandana...oh the cutest lil tiara thingy...and a straw cowgirl hat...i'm changing my look to that whole Coyote Ugly look...so there :p
now O...yep we used coloured stain on the outside of the house...aside from being really really messy...it was super simple...a colour stain will take and my house gets the sun beating on it all day long...and we did it going on 2 years now...and don't even get me started on wind...i found out that we live in the second windest township in Ontario...yea no sh**..my stuff can usually be found in the next town after a wind storm...here's my place..we used CIL Dulux from Home Depot...i believe in total we used 32 gallons on the whole house...but for your deck maybe a gallon or two...we did it in Walnut and only one coat...i really didn't feel like climbing back up there... :hairpull:
Gee whiz Obella..imagine the nerve of that girl..just leaving us high and dry all afternoon. What does she think she's doing?? Getting a life outside of this forum?? What the heck???
:biglol: Mel
lol however, we found that colored stain stood up much better than the exterior paint on wood
