Yes, drama is what I need! I am even considering painting the balusters and handrails...but what a job that would be 90 balusters....eek!

is a JR and not a SR... she needs the occasionally regular kick in the pants to crank it up a notch!!!!

Your place has zero drama but you have bought well - your furniture leave lotsa room to build up with!!! Now that you have a splashy daughter's bedroom... it's time to crank the rest of the place up to match.

By-the-way you should warn your associate of my beigitis...now I think my place looks fine:)

Got a chip of steamship and muskateers to boot! They are great colors but I think they look a bit too grey in my family room. :( Does that have anything to do with my western exposure? Strangely enough the Whisky up is close to the color of my living room...so maybe "beige" isn't so bad?!

I have a mistint of Whiskey Up on my counter as we speak... You sure you aren't going to be in town this weekend???

Whiskey up is a safe colour to go with when recovering from Beigitis.. but it ain't no MUSKATEERS!

I've been mistinting oopsy paints today and I have managed to make(without trying in some cases) Steamship White over and over again!

What I have in mind is something with a bit more gold or earth in it, and rich enough to go with a burgundy red. But the biggest problem I have with JJ's BR is the photos -- I can't quite make out the tones of the woods -- or even their identity. JJ, what are those woods?

I received some wonderful paint samples from your "associate". Did I mention that there was a lovely paint chip called "Whisky up" a lovely shade of biege I might add! Speaking of biege need major help in my living room....are you sure you are done with the 20 minutes of diplomacy?

I prefer to have my creme brulee in a ramikan or however you spell it preferably at Scaramouche in Toronto!!!

My anti Creme Brulee stance was only in direct reference to the wood in her room - CB can be a rich tone with the right accents to build it up!!! Any decorating done with Alcohol or Dessert is not a bad thing - unless PEACH is in the name!!!

Jen - you are a take the bull by the horns kinda gal - paint it Witching Hour already! Newbs - how is the Beigitis? Are you on the mend??? Do you need a jolt of Heron Tonic???

oh god no frilly things...yuck...actually romantic to me is probably the same as you...passionate, sexy, that kinda thing....

Jenjen, you simply must stop inviting strangers into your bedroom! That being said, I still stand by the blue. I am with AAN about the Witching Hour and agree yellow isn't exactly a sexy, romantic color.

I'm sitting in a room of it! My home office is creme brulee and I absolutely love it however it wouldn't work at all with any kind of yellow toned oak or pine... now a mahogany colour would look smashing with it, but definitely not yellow tones. With pine type finishes I love greys, blues and cool greens... it cuts the yellow in the wood. Now yellow in the bedroom? Definitely a no no too... you couldn't stay in there long enough to uh well you know.... sleep. Now purple... that's a good colour for sleep.

I'll give you the creme brule -- it probably would look funny against those woods, especially the cherry. But if the girl (and her DH) doesn't care for black, what else can you put on those walls with so much of two different wood tones, one reddish and the other honey gold? It seems to me you've got to go to the warm yellow end of things, or perhaps soft yellow-greens like olive or moss. Anything else will conflict with one of the two tones of wood. And green just doesn't strike me as very romantic/sexy; so yellow.

Jenjen, what does romantic mean to you? I'm a guy so it probably means something different to me than it does to a woman. What women seem to mean, I think (but I hate to generalize), is something far frillier than what men mean. I think of something moody, the sultry end of moody that is! But not cheap and tarty. That's also why I think warm yellow on the walls with deep red bedding (in silk or velvet or something lux) might work. Creme brule may not work on the walls -- probably go flat against the cherry wood -- but the window treatments could match the wall colour (perhaps a deeper tone), the bedding, or even witching hour! :-)

MY KITCHEN: O.k. Meredith -- bring it on! I'll even start the thread for you.

ok now apparently too much black is opressing....*&&^%^%$ **&&^% **&^%$^&**(

Black is the ultimate power colour when it comes to clothing; it is associated with dignity and sophistication. If black is your favourite colour you carry yourself with dignity and are inclined to conceal your real personality and emotions from others. You find it difficult to be carefree but in public you may put forth an image of wit and cleverness. Small amounts of black are inspirational, large amounts, oppressing. Black coordinates with all other colours

please change your location to reflect OFFSIDE - clearly offside across the field from me that is!!!

Creme Brule... with her wood.... bleck yuck no freaking way!!! (How's that for subtle - I'm working on my subtle approaches for the next say um.. 20 minutes?)

Is it time to start discussing your kitchen yet. You KNOW I am SO NOT ON BOARD with that (sorry Dreamer - but Mike KNEW this was coming!)...

Jen - the Witching Hour is beautiful and if the red comforter is a tad on the plain side, you could easily have some cream and dark charcoal gross grain ribbon applique sewn on to create a Hotel Style effect on the top of it... mix in some toile throw pillows and maybe a creamy silk velvet quilted shams and you will have a fabulous looking room.

I have painted many a bathroom dark dark charcoal and it has doubled the size of it and created drama....

You can never have enough drama in a bedroom!!!!!

On my monitor this Witching Hour thing looks like teal, and I don't like teal!!!
I am siding with DH on this, then again NO ONE ever listens to me.

smitching hour. What do you want to do in that room, hibernate? Are you a bear, (or is that bare LOL)? Will someone with a mock-up program put a nice, warm earthy gold on her walls, with rich burgundy red bedding. Maybe some creme brule panels on the windows.

WWT...don't get excited about the comforter...nothing fancy and to be completely honest...i'm not crazy about it...but he was so happy he bought it for me....it's just a plain comforter...that's all...i'll post a pic of it soon...you'll be as disappointed as me...but how do i tell him i don't like it...oh well i'll leave it on the bed for a lil while then i'll rotate the linens...i'm working on whitching hour...even if i have to i'll comprimise...not sure how..but i will...and no he hasn't told me what he wants...just that he doesn't want anything dark.....

I would have suggested a more intense black, but I think Witching Hour has a great evocative name, don't you? I painted my daughter's room Deep Caviar, and then there is Black Bean Soup, however neither of those names have quite the cachet of "Witching Hour", and some may find them downright unappealing.

winewiththat's picture

I'm reserving my opinion until I see the comforter. Can you post a picture of it? I like the Witching Hour but on my monitor it looks like a nice grey and not anywhere near black. Has dh told you what colour he WOULD like?

Dreamer's picture

Are you going for the Witching Hour? You are going to make my day! As for DH, just smile seductively and say "the smaller the room the easier it will be to find me in it, darling".

ok...i guess it's time to pull out the leather and lace!!!!!

If you insist on showing him the chips, give him the choice - paint the furniture or the walls! He'll choose the walls because you can always paint them if you hate it but you will never strip the furniture back to the wood! Just pout a little and say TRUST ME! Just do it! It will look great!

how did i know you were gonna give me s**t...LOL...guess i could do that...yesterday would have been perfect to do it...he didn't get home till midnight...
