Any suggestions for laundering hand washables ( bras, etc) that require cold water? I use ABC for cold water to do my hand washing but they never stay white. Is there anything great to add to the water?

I too use good old fashioned Borax (20 Mule Team); found at WMart. I add about 1/3 cup to things like underwear and whites; also wash towels and sheets in Hot water....seems to take away that moist, mouldy smell from towels and refreshes the sheets...for them I confess to using about 1/2 a cup. I don't do it year round, but hanging clothes in the sun will keep them white too.

wash twice once in cold then again in hot. Use something with baking soda in it.

Add borax, an old but good solution (inexpensive).

I have an aunt that uses a combination of Tide, bleach and dishwasher detergent! Also, she loves to hang dry outside because the sun whitens the whites. :)
