kichen stools

Hello there!I hope you could help me!  I am a great fan of house & home magazine!  I was wondering if you could tell me what I can do about finding kitchen counter stools.  My kitchen cabinets are dark espresso brown and my kitchen table is a milk chocolate brown.  The table is located in the kitchen.  I was wondering if you could tell me what type of counter stool would best suit my small kitchen island.  Would I be able to use a stool with a back or......would that compete with my kitchen chairs.    Should I just consider a backless counter stool.  I would love something with a back but don't know what it should look like.    Right know  I purchased the whitby counter stool from Pier One.  What do you think?

Hi, Marisa!

Glad to hear you're a fan. Do you happen to have a photo of the Whitby stool that you could post for forum users? I've tried finding it on the Pier One website but haven been unable to do so. Also, if you could post photos of the kitchen area that'd be great for users to get an idea.

Here are some examples of kitchens with stools: No chair backs are used here or here.

In this gallery there are photos of kitchen tables acting as islands, so there are stools/seating in all the photos for an idea of seating options, but as these tables replace islands, there's no sense of "competition" between table and island seating.
