Wow-great success with those, eh? I always fail when I try sunflowers. (cheeky squirrels!)
i was wondering if i should do that...thanks
I don't know how you got them so big!
When my boys and I planted a row of them this year, and the shoots started to come up, we noticed one would be missing every day! I thought the boys had picked them, but they said they hadn't touched them.
When there were only 2 left, I spotted a squirrel going to a shoot, snap it off and munch the entire sprout! He kept the last one for the next day! What a tasty treat it must be for him, and he knew to keep one for every day.
So no sunflowers for my boys this year.
I would tie up the drooping flower head before the weight snaps it off. The kids would be so sad if that happened. :)
your guys must have been so pleased with what they grew! I think sunflowers are great kid projects, because they really get a lot of growing for their efforts.
