I got the idea for this from a Pottery Barn Kids catalogue years ago. I blew the date though, as we did it on my son's eleventh birthday-oh well!
I used acrylic craft paint in a linen colour, which I thought was a nice neutral choice. For the handprints and lettering I mixed black with a bit of white to get a charcoal. I made two in case one didn't work out well, so I have one for the family room and an extra one for the cottage in my dreams.

Looks pretty good. But I think the first one is better than the second one. It is fun to make something for our kids. It just makes everything memorable.
