Has anyone else found that purchased King Size Duvet covers or bedspreads do not 'hang' over a king sized mattress enough? Most King size bedspreads or covers are around 102" to 106" and I am finding that the hangover does not cover the mattress on the sides.
Is there a solution? Do I have to go custom? Is there a source for wider bedspreads to get a nice 'drape' to cover the mattress?
Thanks,
Jen

I found a Oversize King duvet at Linen N Things.
The brand name was PrimaLoft and it was really really nice quality cotton. Super soft and not at all rustly or crunchy. The fibre fill did not clump or shift.
I got mine on clearance for $300.00. I'm very happy with it, however, I've never found a duvet cover large enough to fit it. So I'm stuck with white. Forever. Because I'll never replace it unless it disintegrates.
oh, and it's machine washable, but waaaaaaay too big for a home machine, so I take it to the cleaners just to be laundered. I've done it many times, and it still looks and feels like new.
Hope this helps.

I also turned my duvet on the side but it still does not cover the mattress nicely on the side, but it helps (a king size bed is practically a square!).
Matelasse spreads, in fact, all kinds of spreads are available at both Sears warehouses in Brampton very cheap! I think I paid $40 for my king size and bought a $25 king size herringbone pattern matelasse type spread to make a bed skirt. Even cheaper when they have $40% off on the weekend.
I bought a King duvet and cover from IKEA and it still doesn't cover as much as I'd like it to on my QUEEN bed. The way my bed is built, I can't really use a bed skirt, so I'd like the duvet cover to come down over the box spring.
i have a matelasse...i love it...got it at Linen and Things..something like $90 for a queen
Alright www.linensource.com has some Matelasse bedspreads (not coverlets) that may be the right length if that is the look you are going for. Has anyone found a quilt source that has long draping bedspreads?
I have the same problem. Know what I'm testing right now, turn the duvet on the side and pull it down a bit. The duvet then covers the bottom and sides but just goes up as high as the pillows, not all the way to the top of the bed. Seems to be working. I need to resolve this before I buy bedding for our room.
I have looked at the Matelasse and liked those so that's a good idea.
I have found that Fabricland will get some decorator fabrics in a double width (approx. 120 " wide) but you have to like the colours and patterns and the price...
I have the same problem too. On my other beds I always go up a size but on the king size there is nothing bigger. I have considered custom but I don't really want the seams down the two sides where they have to join the 54" wide fabric. I hope someone has some good ideas.
Mine doesn't come down far enough on the sides and it is barely long enough. I don't have a footboard so the sheets show at the end I have to pull it down to cover them. These things ae so expensive you would think they could make them the right size. I do have the extra thick matteress.
I have the same problem. I have recently begun to use a matelasse bed spread that hangs over the side and covers the space left by the duvet. Those spreads are huge and they create a great effect!
i found a site that shows oversized king duvets...here are the measurements
King 104x86
Oversized King 108x94
but they are in New York...but atleast you know the option to go oversized is there
