We have just installed the tiles and the store we purchased from suggested that we seal the marble prior to grouting, does that make sense? Also the grout is to be spread across the tiles not just in the groves correct? I think he is afraid that if the grout gets in the dimples of the tile it will loss the effect, I think that is part of the effect. Any advise?

That does make sense, we will do it.
the sealer is recommended prior to grouting to resist staining when grouting. it makes it easier to wipe off the grout and resists hazing too. as far as it preventing the grout from filling in the pits it doesn't. the sealer is quickly absorbed into the stone itself to act as a shield.
it is good advice and in my experience when installing travertine limestone was very helpful. also with slate.
actually, many installers will seal the stone before even laying it to prevent even the mastic (adhesive) from staining the stone.
