Hi there,
I am trying to decide what kind of backsplash to put in my kitchen.
We recently had white cabinets and granite countertops (photo attached) installed. We have gunstock oak hardwood floors. Our walls are a soft yellow - Sherwin Williams 6379 Jersey Cream.
We have been considering a tumbled marble in a beige colour or glossy white tiles or using the same granite as our counters. I have been having a really hard time with this. I like the earthy look of the tumbled marble but I worry that it looks too trendy? I think the white tiles could look really classic and clean, but maybe too sterile? The granite almost seems like the safe choice but I don't want to just play it safe...I want it to look great. It seems like anything goes when it comes to backsplashes and there are very few rules to follow!
Any suggestions?
Liza

Is your granite Gallio Ornamantale? that's the granite we chose for our kitchen. Although, I haven't installed backsplash yet, when I do, I plan on installing a creamy tumbled marble in the subway style. Home Depot has them in as part of their stock tiles for a very reasonable price. I think cream works well with that granite.
I agree...my vote is for tumbled marble in cream/beigey tones.
Think subway tiles woould work as well but my preference would be marble with the granite. Love the granite choice BTW!
If you go with tile go with a colour in you granit not white it will be to flash, go with a kink of beige, but I will go with marble. And do you know what I have the same counter top as yours but mine is not in granit.
Excuse my englihs I am french
I like the beige tumbled marble/travertine idea. Using natural materials together works well.
I hate to say it, but I think ganite counter-tops are trendy.
You are best to go with what you really love.
any chance you can post pics of the kitchen, showing the cupboards and the granite countertops? Also, what kind of style are you - country, modern, traditional?? or something else altogether?
