OK folks, I'm just about set to start on a kitchen painting extravaganza, but I'm stuck on one detail and I need some advice.
Here's the deal:
I'm all set to re-paint my standard issue mid-80's oak cupboards to a buttery white (RL Roadster White). Current wall colour is close (but not quite) RL Somerset Yellow. Floor is currently UUUUUGGLLY white/grey ceramic, but will be replaced by medium/dark oak hardwood. Curtain fabric will be a red/white toile. New cabinet hardware will be wrought iron finish in a grey/black combo. Kitchen table is pine; chairs are ladderback in rubbed black finish with rush seats.
The tricky part: I want to paint my countertops as an interim measure. Ultimately, the look that I think would be right colour combo would be Formica Jamocha Granite.
Either way, I definitely want a darker countertop. However, right now I'm not sure whether to go with a dark charcoal (PARA Obsidian), or perhaps RL Turret Stair (which I have no idea what it looks like but sounds great because it sounds browny-black). Or do I go for a real stretch and try to do one of those mottled paint finishes (very concerned this will come off looking amateur-ish and fake).
