I need help on adding some personality to my kitchen. Its a new construction home, so everything is brand new. Looking to keep the furniture pieces in the room, but I want to have new drapes, rug, and other accents. I like white and chrome, and neutal tones as I feel it is a classic look, but I feel that it has become too blahh for this space.I am Looking for drapes with colour and pattern. I feel that a red scheme may be too 'expected' but it may work out the best....I  was also thinking about blue/green a palette. Maybe a belveled mirror instead of a wood frame? I just need to focus on one look, and run with it.If anyone has some suggestions, or links to articles of inspiration...it would be appreciated!AllanSee below uploaded images: eating areaeating areaeating area 2eating area 2adjacent kitchenadjacent kitchen

Hi Nestor,The blusih circle on the ceiling is a speaker, as the house has sound piped throughout. The countertop is a laminate, and there are no built-ins in the island, the dishwasher is to the left of the sink, by the window.Hope this helps!a

In the first picture, what's that round blueish mark on the ceiling?  Is the white thing in the background on the ceiling a smoke detector or CO detector?  Also, is that ceramic tile or sheet vinyl on the dining room floor? In the third photo of the kitchen, I can't tell what the counter top is made of.  Is it plastic laminate, a synthetic Marble like Corian or granite?  Is there a built in dish washer under that counter top somewhere?

Apply green!!: I agree with Chickadee. Apple green was my first pick when I saw your kitchen. I saw the most amazing cookie jar that would look cute in your kitchen..Apply green!!: I agree with Chickadee. Apple green was my first pick when I saw your kitchen. Thanks for your comments and compliments.Ive been thinking some sort of 'green' as well chickadee....just need to commit to it. I have to break out of the beige. Hopefully fabric on the drapes and window will give it the punch im looking for...I will indeed keep you updated!

Chickadee's suggestions sound really good. More colour and a little less wood would be great.

In this video, design editor Cameron MacNeil has some nice graphic drapes and other suggestions for a dark kitchen that you might appreciate. Check it out! http://houseandhome.com/tv/segment/budget-kitchen-update
