I am in the middle of a kitchen reno. I love the look of porcelain sinks. I cook and use my kitchen alot. We have no children, only my husband and I. We entertain occasionnally.
Will I regret going with a porcelain sink? does it scratch and chip easily? Should I choose stainless steel for durability and practicality over pretty?

I have a Krohler porcelain sink in my kitchen and I like it alot. I am into my 6th year with this sink. So far no chips at all. I do use a mat on the bottom and every so often throw it in the dishwasher (top shelf) but make sure you it take it out when it is finished and lay it flat again when it is still hot. I also found a product to clean my sink called 'Bar Keeper Friend' that can be bought at Bed, Bath and Beyond for $3.99. Best product ever! I also use this on my sink mat plus I clean my gas stove top with it too. Have even used it to clean white dishes that get all the scratch marks from knives and forks. (Depends on the dish though as some would not clean up.) It is meant for stainless steel, porcelain, fiberglass, glass cooktops, tile, copper and brass.
Go for it. They look fabulous. In our old house we spruced up the place to sell and came across one at Ikea of all places that was being cleared out. Installed it and it really set it apart.
Yes, chipping can be a problem so you do have to be careful, but a rubber mat on the bottom of the sink can solve that issue pretty quick.
